Isham Isome Belcher (b. October 13, 1769, d. January 1823)

Isham Isome Belcher (son of Isham E. Belcher and Elizabeth Clay) was born October 13, 1769 in Franklin County, VA, and died January 1823 in Tazewell Co., VA. He married (1) Martha Patsy Hodges on January 03, 1791 in Franklin Co., VA, daughter of Isham Hodges and Nancy Hill. He married (2) Nancy Blankenship on 1809.

This indenture made this 27th day of May 1816 between Isham Belcher of the
County of Franklin & State of Virginia of the one part & Zachariah Finney of
the County & State aforesaid of the other part Witnesseth that the said Isham
Belcher has this day bargained & sold unto the said Zachariah Finney for and
in consideration of the sum of twenty pounds twelve shillings & 6p
in hand paid this receipt where of is hereby acknowledged a certain tract or
parcel of land situate lying and being on the ridge between Snow Creek and
Grassy
Fork including the head of one Branch running into Snow Creek containing by
survey 27 & a half acres. Bounded as followeth viz; Beginning at Pointers in
Jesse Pruntys line on the old road leading from Richard Stocktons to Jn.
Pinchards & thence Pruntys lines North 17 Poles to a chestnut [&?] oak thence
N 12 degrees W 28 Poles to a Chestnut tree N 32 degrees W 19 Poles to a White
Oak N 75 degrees W 41 Poles to Pointers in Finneys line, thence with his line
N 55 degrees E 49 Poles to a White Oak thence with his line S 66E 79 Poles to
a White Oak, Red Oak & Sourwood, thence with Pruntys line N 81 E 5 Poles to
Pointers in Belchers line thence to a dividing line S 42 W 92 Poles to the
Beginning.
To have and to hold [unto?] the said Zachariah Finney his heirs & forever the
said Isham Belcher doth for himself his heirs & etc warrent the said land &
premises with all the appurtenances thereunto belonging or in any wise
appertaining unto the said Zachariah Finney his heirs & free from the Just
claim or demand of any person or persons whatever. In Witness whereof the said
Isham Belcher hath hereunto set his hand and seal this day and year above
written.

This Indenture made this twenty ninth day of January in the year of our Lord
Christ one thousand seven hundred and ninety eight and of the CommonWealth the
twenty second between Isham Belcher of the County of Wythe of the one partie and
Israel Evans of the County of Franklin of the other part Witnefsneth that the
Belcher for an inconsideration of the sum of one Hundred Pounds Current money of
Virginia to him in hand paid the receipt whereof he the said Belcher doath
hereby acknowledge healh Bargained and sold unto the said Evans one Certain
tract or Parcel of Land Lying and being in the County of Franklin and on the
south side of Black water River containing one hundred and fifty Acres be the
same more or lefs and bounded as followith to wits; Beginning at pointers Samuel
Gelbert's line on the said River - thence his Line south five degrees. East
twenty two poles to pointers thence along said Line to a maple branch thence up
the said branch as it meanders to the Original line thence along said Line to a
Red Oak thence north forty degrees Est one hundred and fifty six poles to a
Spanish Oak thence to the north Est fork of the Cannco branch and down the said
branch to Black water thence up the said River as it meanders to the beginning
with all Woods Waters houses orchards and all other Profits appertaining to the
said tract of Land to the only use of him the said Evans his heirs and assigns
forever and I the said Belcher do warrant and forever defend the said tract of
Land to the said Evans against me my heirs and; Every of them or any other
Person or Persons forever Clear of all encumbrances in Witnefs whereof I the
said Belcher have hereunto Set my hand and Seal the day and year above Written.

Know all men by these Presents that I John Cook for and in consideration of the sum
of one hundred Pounds in hand this Receipt where of is hereby acknowledged have this
day bargained & sold & by these present doth bargain sell & confirm to Isham Belcher
to him & his heirs forever a certain negro woman named Judy which said Negro & Increase
I do forever warrent and defend against the Just claim or claims of all and every person
or persons Whatsoever claiming the same by through in or under me.

In Witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this 10th Jan 1807.

Belcher to Belcher- B of S - Olglethorpe County, Geogia

Know all men by these Presents that I, Matthew Belcher of the County and State
aforesaid, for and in consideration of the sum of fore hundred dollars to me
in hand paid by Isham Belcher of the State of Virginia have bargained, Sold,
conveyed and relinquished unto the said Isham Belcher all my right title,
interest and claims to my portion of my deceased fathers estate who was by the
name of Francis Belcher and made and executed his will in Amelia County in the
said State of Virginia on the 29th day of July in the year 1781. To have and
to hold unto the said Isham Belcher my said portion of my said fathers estate
in as full simple & perfect a manner as the same is or may be held by any one
of the legatees of the said Francis Belcher. In Witnesseth whereof I have
hereunto set my hand and Seal this 29th day of Dec 1814.

In the name of God Amen
I, Isome I. Belcher of Tazewell county and the state of Virginia having arrived to an advanced period of life, conssequently feeling the infirmities of age deem it expedient while having the exercise of my reason t o make my last will and testament which is as follows:
Ub tge first place I will that my body be buried in a Christian like manner at the discrretion of my executors hereafter to b enamed and that my funeral expenses and debts (if any) be paid out of my estate by my executor.
I give and bequeath to each of my children to wit:Phoebe,Obediah,John,Jessee, and Nancy one dollar to be paid out of my estate.
In the like manner in the next place I give and bequeath to the balance of my children viz:
Isome,Micaga,Jude,Asa,Henry,Moses,James,Jonathan,and Robertall my horses,property,cattle,hogs,sheep, and geese. all my farm utensils,all my furniture,and one loom to be enjoyed and possessed equally by them and their heirs forever.
I also give to my son, Isome, a certain tract of parcel of land in Tazewell County known by Iyrs improvement on the Laurel fork of Brushy Creek. quantity of acres not recollected to be enjoyed and possessed by him and his heirs forever.
I also give and bequeath to my thre sons, James, Jonathan, and Robert the tract of land I now live on lying at the mouth of the Laurel fork of Brushy Creek containint 170 acres and a small tract or parcel of land on Brush Creek & adjoining the tract will to son Isome quantity not recollected to be enjoyed and possessed equally by them and their heirs forever.
The above estate is to be at my disposal dureing my natural life.
Lastly, I nominate and appoing John Davidson and Henry Bailey executors of this my last will and testament.
Whereof I have set my and affixed my seal this 18th day of December in the year of our Lord 1822>
